Project of the Year...
The following project was a unique one for us this year. It incorporated many of our specailties that we do at Padula Roofing & Sheetmetal Co. George A. Nole & Sons Inc. out of Utica, NY gave us the contract for the Additions and Allterations at Winship Road in New Hartford, NY. Our contract included the installation of the new slate roofing system and a change order for copper gutter work.
The first phase of the project consisted of us installing new "High Tempered" ice & water barriers over the exposed wood decks to the new garage, breezeway, and pool house. Then the installation of new "copper" hip and ridge that was custom fabricated to receive the slate for a clean look. This was provided by ASP Inc. out of Scotia, NY. Then we installed new "Vermont Roofing Slate" provided by Vermont Slate Co. out of Vermont. There were three colors to be blended to match the exsisting slate roof on the main house - "Semi Weathering Gray", "Semi Weathering Green", and Purple.
We then installed new "copper" step flashings and counter flashings fabricated by Padula Roofing & Sheetmetal Co. to all roof tie-ins as the work progressed. The copper flat sheets that we used for the project were provided by Erie Materials Corp. out of Utica, NY.
The next phase of the project included the installation and fabrication of new "Seamless" copper gutters to the entire main house and additions. I had custom-cut copper rolls cut to size provided by ASP Inc. To create the "seamless" gutters, we rented a machine provided by Rain Gutter Systems out of Utica, NY. All down spouts and accessories were provided by Berrger Brothers.
Next, we installed a tappered roof insulation system and an 060 EPDM FR fully adhered Gen Flex rubber roofing system to the covered porch. To finish the rubber roof off, we installed custom fabricated copper scupper boxes for drainage provided by ASP Inc. out of Scotia, NY. Then, we installed new copper down spouts and a new copper counter flashing.
Finally, we installed a new custom fabricated "Yankee" gutter system to 2 areas of the exsisting main house that we fabricated in our shop. It consisted of copper standing seam snow pans and then the yankee gutter with new down spouts.
This project from start to finish with change orders, weather, and materials ordered took us about 2-1/2 months. This was the project of the year.
